Cool down this summer with a sweet treat that has no sugar added. What exactly is a sorbet? Sorbet is a frozen dessert that is typically made of fruit or juice, water and sugar. This is a low calorie recipe that is super easy to make and is completely guilt free because we didn’t add any sugar. In fact, this counts as a serving of fruit! The flavor combination of the naturally sweet strawberries, tart lemon and cool mint is sure to please your tastebuds. Not only will you love the taste of this strawberry sorbet, your body will love the nutrition benefits you get from it as well! Strawberries and lemons are packed with vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals - substances that contribute to cancer, heart disease and arthritis. Now on to the sorbet recipe! You are just steps away from eating the best sorbet you have ever tried!
Start out by cutting the tops off of the strawberries and then freeze them for at least 4 hours or overnight. You can also use strawberries that have already been frozen.
Place the frozen strawberries in a food processor or blender.
Next, add the lemon juice.
Blend until smooth. You are looking for the consistency of applesauce.
Pull mint leaves off of sprig and add to the fruit puree. Blend until mint is incorporated.
Pour into a freezer safe container. I like to use the rectangular glass one I have, since it is easier to scoop from. You could use any shape you have on hand though.
Smooth the top with a spatula or spoon. It doesn’t have to look perfect, I promise!
Place a lid on your container and freeze until the desired consistency is achieved. This usually takes about 4 hours.
Super easy and it tastes great on a hot day! I like to serve this sweet treat with another sprig of mint and lemon slice for garnish. This makes it look fancy but this step is optional!
